Types of roof construction
There are two basic types of roof construction
Flat roofs
A flat roof is usually defined as having a pitch no greater than 15 degrees, a truly flat roof would not allow rainfall to drain away so most flat roofs have a slope on them so that the rainwater naturally flows to collection points.
Pitched roofs
A typical roof pitch in Ireland for a traditional house would be between 30-40 degrees but can go higher or lower depending on the design and materials used, as an example slate covered roofs can be 20 degrees or more.
