In choosing your decking there are a number of options available to you:

Decking is broken into 3 classifications:

Softwood Decking

Softwood DeckingA softwood deck is machined from a softwood tree; it is the most readily available and most economical type of decking. The planks usually come in a standard size of 100x35mm and are reversible. On one side the plank is ribbed and the other side smooth, the client can choose whichever side they prefer, to fit with their design. Softwood decking is pressure treated to preserve the life of the timber.

Hardwood Decking

Hardwood decking is machined from tropical hardwoods; this exotic timber is extremely hard, durable and naturally resistant to decomposition. However, because this timber is so dense it is difficult to cut and drill, therefore making it more expensive to buy and fit, compared to softwood decking.

Composite Decking

Composite decking boards are made up of wood and plastics. Because of the use of recycled materials, composite decking is considered more environmentally friendly then other options available. The advantages of using composite decking materials are.

Looking After Wooden Furniture
